The dashboard allows you to create new templates. There are two types to choose from: Pixel Mode and Dynamic Mode.
- Pixel Mode: Uses a grid system to layout the report. This mode allows you to position things exactly where you wan them on the page.
- Dynamic Mode: Uses dynamic blocks to layout the report. This mode is more like designing a website. It allows you take advantage of how html is generated.
Click on either report mode to create a new report. Note that once you create a template, you can not change between modes for that template.
A grid system for layout which allows positioning items and their size exactly where you want them on the page.
Using the design surface like this:
Creates a layout where those items are exactly where you placed them:
A system that uses dynamic blocks to layout the report. This mode is more like designing a website. It allows you take advantage of how html is generated. The width of the blocks is determined by how many are set horizontally in the document.
You can also set the width of a block specifically ensuring that the column that block is in will be at least that width.
Height is computed dynamically by allowing each row to be the height of the tallest item. This means that the vertical layout, or the width of any given row can change based on the content. While powerful, sometimes you don’t want this to happen. You can get around this by setting the height of at least one item in the row, then the row will have that height at minimum. (It could still be taller if you have another block that takes up more vertical space and isn’t constrained)
